Contract talks between the Adelaide Football Club and forward Kurt Tippett have been put on hold until the end of the season.

Tippett, 25, addressed his Crows teammates on Monday, telling them he hadn’t made any decision on his playing future beyond 2012 and that he was solely focused on giving 100 per cent to the group for the rest of the season.

Tippett returned to the field against the Brisbane Lions on Saturday night after a month on the sidelines recuperating from his third concussion for the year.

Football Operations General Manager Phil Harper, who met with the goalkicker’s management on Friday night, said both parties had agreed to suspend talks until the end of Adelaide’s season.

“Given Kurt’s recent concussion issues he has had little time to consider his future. He wants to focus solely on performing on-field to the best of his ability before considering his future later in the year, and to ensure that the matter does not became a distraction to him or anyone at the club in the lead-up to and during the finals,” Harper said.

“Therefore the Club and Kurt’s management have agreed to resume discussions at season’s end.

“The Adelaide Football Club had an exceptional offer in front of Kurt - and Kurt and his management acknowledge this - but Kurt has made it clear he will not make any decision until the season is finished.

“The Club will make no further comment on this matter, as we focus on our own on-field performances for the rest of the 2012 season.”

Tippett has played 99 AFL games for Adelaide since making his debut in 2008. He topped Adelaide’s goalkicking (46) in 2010 and has finished top-10 in the Crows Club Champion award in the past three seasons.

The former basketballer was drafted from Queensland by the Crows at pick No.32 in the 2006 National Draft.
