Versatile big man Toby Murray’s consistent improvement over the past 12 months has been recognised with a two-year contract extension.

Selected in last year’s AFL Mid-Season Rookie Draft after impressing in Adelaide’s SANFL team, Murray is pushing for AFL selection having put together his first full pre-season.

Standing at 200cm, Murray is a forward/ruck who played Under-18s with the Murray Bushrangers and Collingwood’s VFL team before moving to Adelaide at the start of 2024.

The younger brother of fellow Crow Nick, he has shown plenty of promise in his first SANFL season which earnt him a spot on Adelaide’s AFL list.

He played 16 games in 2024 and kicked bags of four, three and two goals (four times) while averaging four marks per game.

The new deal will keep him at the Crows until at least 2027.

“We’re really pleased with how Toby is progressing,” GM List Management and Strategy Justin Reid said.

“He’s shown great commitment to improving his own game and learning what it takes to play at the highest level, and he’s taken some big steps in that space particularly over summer which was his first AFL pre-season.”

Murray said he had enjoyed his time at West Lakes so far and learning from the Club’s other key forwards.

“I’m very grateful for the Club putting their faith in me for another two years,” he said.

“It’s been great learning off guys like Filthy and Tex and Fog and being able to pick their brains, and getting to train and play alongside Nick has been pretty special too.

“So I’m looking forward to hopefully an exciting season ahead.”
