Adelaide forward Taylor Walker is doing his best to land new Crow Fischer McAsey a nickname at the Club.
Speaking on Over the PA podcast, McAsey revealed the former skipper has been trialing a few names for the young defender at West Lakes.
“Tex Walker loves to throw around a few nicknames,” McAsey said.
“He’s been calling me ‘Paykel’ (after appliance manufacturer) Fisher and Paykel.
“Donald Fisher, an actor I think, I’m not really sure how that’ll go.
“Most of the boys just say Fish which is a pretty easy one.”
McAsey may only be seven weeks into his tenure at West Lakes, but the young defender has already identified the benefits of Adelaide living.
The 18-year-old said life in South Australia was much more relaxed than the hustle and bustle of his home state.
“It’s a bit different to Melbourne,” McAsey said.
“The traffic is much better than Melbourne, which is a massive positive, and there’s some great beaches down here. The beaches are probably better than Melbourne.
“It’s a pretty cruisy lifestyle, which I really like.”
McAsey has felt right at home since joining the Club, initially living with teammate Tom Doedee who he described as “awesome” and “a good bloke”.
Doedee has provided plenty of guidance for the 18-year-old, and the lessons taught by key backs Daniel Talia and Kyle Hartigan on the training track have proved invaluable.
“All those guys have been really great, (they) obviously have got so much experience,” he said.
“Just passing that onto me has been really helpful.”
