A defiant Neil Craig insists Adelaide can still win the AFL premiership, despite a cruel, late run of injuries and illness that has supposedly crippled its finals prospects this month."We still honestly believe we are capable of winning the flag," Craig said after the Crows had trained at AAMI Stadium on Friday for Saturday's match there against Melbourne."It'll be tough but it's still there - wouldn't it put the cat among the pigeons, hey?"Craig had been asked whether he thought Adelaide had the personnel to win the flag."We still believe that," he said. "We have to dig deep. We all know the injuries … all year we've said we're happy to test the depth of our playing squad and we've tried to develop a non-star system, if you like. Now we'll be tested."So was this the ultimate test of that no-star theory?"It certainly is - absolutely," Craig said."We've been reasonably hard-hit up forward but we can restructure there. Our back line still remains solid and of high quality, our midfield's still of high quality, it's just a matter of the system up forward now being able to stand up and that will require some help from the midfielders and back line as well."We know where we sit. It opens up a whole range of different opportunities on how people respond as a group and individually. Sometimes you elicit talents you don't know are there in the good times."We're obviously looking for the positives on where we sit and what we can get out of it, and how we go about our business. The negative side takes care of itself."We're not oblivious to it. We understand where we're at but, clearly, it's important for us to make sure we are going there with a very positive mindset to maximise the opportunity that exists for us to play."Craig said he had spoken to Mark Ricciuto on Thursday and the captain was 'feeling a lot better'."It's just good news for Mark," he said. "It's not the worst diagnosis, if you like. We look forward to him returning."I think we need to plan without him, to be honest with you, just as we'll probably do the same with Andrew McLeod. Certainly, the Trent Hentschel (injury) looks after itself, and probably, to a lesser extent, Benny Hart."Those two (Ricciuto and McLeod), we know the quality and experience of the players we're dealing with, so if they did become available, that looks after itself."We're certainly not sitting down at the moment saying, 'we'll be okay because Ricciuto will be there'.Craig said the players had been 'pretty demanding on each other this week on what they expect for the rest of the year'."We can talk about it all day - in the end it will be action," he said. "We'll be judged by our actions, not what we talk about."We're trying to win (against Melbourne), make no mistake about it. It's important we keep that attitude and we will be."To our supporters - and it's a sell-out again - we need to put in an effort that they actually feel proud of."Craig said second-placed Adelaide had 'earned the right' to two home finals."We had a draw to get through - we played some quality sides during that period of time, too (when the Crows won 14 of their first 16 games)," he said."Our form the last four or five weeks hasn't been up to the standard we want. We understand that so we keep pushing on."Adelaide added another name to its long injury list on Friday when John Hinge strained a hamstring at training. Bernie Vince replaced him as an emergency - with John Meesen and Ben Hudson - for the match with the Demons.
