Midfielders Brooke Boileau and Deni Varnhagen will rejoin the squad for main training this week, as they recover from finger and thumb injuries respectively.
Two weeks ago, Boileau suffered a compound dislocation of her finger at training and Varnhagen injured her thumb in a scrimmage match.
“Brooke got the stitches out of her finger last week, it was quite a nasty dislocation at the time, she could have played last week as she’s a pretty tough kid,” Head of Women’s Football Phil Harper said.
“However, her ball handling wasn’t probably understandably at its greatest, so it’ll be better this week.
“Deni is the same, she dislocated her thumb in a practice game and her ball handling last week wasn’t at its highest level because of that, but both players should be vastly improved this week and put their hands up for selection.”
In further good news, defender Brooke Smith has ticked off a milestone in her recovery from a collarbone injury and resumed running last week.
“It’s great for Brooke, she broke her shoulder back in Week Four and she’s now running and she’s enjoying being back out there with the girls,” Harper said.
“She’s probably another week and a half away from getting more involved with the rest of the team in drills and we’ll see how she goes from there.”
