Crows fans have voted Adelaide’s coast-to-coast goal against North Melbourne as the third-best RAA Play of the Year.
All Australian backman Brodie Smith sparked the play with one of his trademark dashes from defence.
After receiving the ball from Kyle Hartigan in the back pocket, Smith took five bounces while running unchallenged through the middle of Adelaide Oval late in the final term.
He covered nearly half the length of the entire ground, before passing off the ball in front of Taylor Walker inside 50m. ‘Tex’ coolly collected the footy and handballed over an opponent to allow an easy goal to small forward Charlie Cameron.
From Matthew Jaensch’s kick-in to Cameron’s finish – the Kangaroos failed to touch the ball at any stage during the passage of play.
Adelaide went on to win the Round One match by 77 points.
