A popular AFL mock draft has predicted Adelaide going local and then tall with its two picks in the November 24 national draft.
Inside Football magazine’s Brett Anderson tips Central District’s Wayne Milera to go to the Crows first, followed by 199cm key defender Ben McKay.
Anderson’s mock draft includes four Academy bids being matched inside the first dozen picks on draft night.
He has predicted Melbourne bidding for Callum Mills with pick No 3, forcing Sydney to match this to secure the talented midfielder. Clubs are also expected to bid for Greater Western Sydney Academy pair Jacob Hooper and Matthew Kennedy, and Brisbane’s Eric Hipwood.
Although the early draft order will change on the night, Adelaide will still have the ninth pick of the main draft pool and then its current No 13 pick will be the 12th non-Academy player selected.
Milera, a clever half-forward or wingman, played for the South Australian Under 18 side this year and also made his SANFL league debut for Central District.
Twin brothers Harry and Ben McKay both played for Gippsland Power in the TAC Cup. Ben played at both ends of the ground. Harry, a forward, was tipped to be taken by Carlton with its second pick in the draft.
