Three-time Adelaide AFLW Premiership star Ebony Marinoff says the Crows learnt plenty from their Round One loss to Melbourne and are ready for another battle on Friday night.
The Crows will take on Melbourne in a Qualifying Final at Ikon Park and the winner will advance to a Preliminary Final.
Adelaide beat Melbourne in Season Six’s flag decider, before the Demons prevailed over the Crows in a Grand Final rematch in Round One of this campaign.
Marinoff said players were eager to atone for the loss earlier this season.
“It’s a great opportunity for us as a collective and I think the AFLW finals is going to be a special one this year,” Marinoff said.
“It’s (the loss) actually relevant just in terms of what we really didn’t do well in Round One and it was probably around our contest method.
“I think we’ve grown incredibly and Round One was a little while ago now and with the personnel change and what not, it was our first game playing together.
“We’ll look at it (again), review it and hopefully we can get this final right.”
Adelaide not only booked its place in the upcoming major round by beating St Kilda in Round 10, but also snared third place and a double chance.
Speaking to the media on Monday, Marinoff said a top-four finish was always the goal as the side eyed off a back-to-back flag.
“A double chance is really important as it means that you potentially only have to win three games instead of four,” Marinoff said.
“It’s going to be an epic battle and we are going to have to be at our best.
“We’ve got to get the job done but that’s the beauty of having the double chance, there’s an ability to go straight through to a prelim.
“Doc (Senior Coach Matthew Clarke) likes to think we do that in finals, so hopefully we can put on a really good show on Friday night.”
Marinoff is set to play in a fifth AFLW final series, with the Crows having featured in all but two since the competition began in 2017.
The 24-year-old said that experience was vital for this weekend’s match.
“We’ve had about five of us who have played in a handful over the past few years but we’ll also have an opportunity for some girls to play in their first finals,” Marinoff said.
“I think what we’ve done pretty well over the past few years is shared our experiences and we can help those girls embrace the finals for what they are and stick to what they know.
“Experience is pretty important and we are lucky to have a bit of that.”
Adelaide takes on Melbourne at IKON Park on Friday, November 4, at 7.10pm AEST (6.40pm ACDT).
