Adelaide’s Taylor Walker has heaped praise on the Club’s young forward line following the win over Hawthorn.

The former skipper led the way with four goals in the 16.6 (102) to 13.5 (83) victory at Marvel Stadium on Saturday night.

But less experienced players including Darcy Fogarty and Elliott Himmelberg (two goals each) also gave Walker plenty of support inside 50.

“It’s great that our young group up front has been able to take their opportunities and finish off on Saturday night,” Walker said.

“They (Fogarty and Himmelberg) were both very good.

“That’s one of Darcy’s… most consistent performances over four quarters, it was outstanding.

“It’s great to have Big Easy up front, he’s a great target for our boys and the boys have a lot of confidence when they kick it to him.

“The young boys just need to keep believing they are good enough to play AFL and consistently perform at that level.”

Walker hoped the result against the Hawks would hold the side in good stead for the remaining four games of this season.

“A couple of words that stick out to me are (a) mature, resilient, win for our boys over the weekend,” Walker said.

“The ability to go out there and actually perform and not just play builds character and builds some strength within our group and keeps us going in the right direction.

“I think it gives all our young boys belief… we are building something pretty special.

“We said we want to finish the year off like we started it and we knew on the weekend against Hawthorn it was going to be a great contest.

“As eerie and as different as it was not having everyone cheer and support, it was a great step forward for our young group.”
