Adelaide hopes Sunday’s ‘SANFL Showdown’ in Balaklava will raise awareness and much-needed support for the CFS Foundation.

All takings from the game against Port Adelaide, which kicks off at 1.10pm in the Mid North town about an hour’s drive from the CBD, will be donated to the Foundation and the Adelaide Plains Football League.

Over 100 volunteers from the local community will also donate their time to help make the game a success. It will be the area’s first taste of SANFL action since 1984.

The tight-knit regional community was rocked late last year when Adelaide Plains local Lieutenant Andrew Harrison, a CFS volunteer for 17 years, died fighting a fire in the Nantawarra area.

The Mount Templeton volunteer is survived by his wife Kellie and two young sons Thomas and Henry.

The family was invited as special guests to a Crows closed training session late last year when the game was formally announced.

The CFS Foundation exists to honour, support and provide care for CFS volunteers and their families. Click here to find out more about the Foundation and to donate.
