Geelong will begin its defence of the pre-season cup it won so spectacularly in 2006 with a home clash at Skilled Stadium against Richmond. The 2007 NAB Cup draw was released, along with next year's home and away fixture, on Wednesday with the competition to begin on Friday, February 23.Arch-rivals Adelaide and Port will kick-off the competition with a night clash at AAMI Stadium while on the same night the Kangaroos will take on Collingwood at Carrara on the Gold Coast. The other first round match-ups see the Bulldogs host Sydney in Canberra, St Kilda to play Brisbane in Cairns, Fremantle and West Coast to clash at Subiaco while two games will be played at Telstra Dome - between Carlton and Essendon on the Saturday night of February 24 and Melbourne and Hawthorn on the Sunday night of February 25.The second week will see quarter-finals played at Aurora Stadium in Launceston as well as TIO Stadium in Darwin and Telstra Dome with the other venue to be determined while the venues for the semi-finals and the final are also yet to be named. The final will take place on Saturday, March 17 with the home and away season to begin just under a fortnight later on Friday, March 30.The Cats won the 2006 competition the hard way by winning the final against Adelaide at AAMI Stadium as the club collected its first senior trophy since 1963.And they have been rewarded for that triumph against the odds with a rare pre-season game at Geelong, which will be one of just two first round matches that will be played in the day.But if the Cats win that match they will then go on the road with their quarter final clash to be played in Darwin, against the winner of the Adelaide-Port clash.
