Adelaide midfielder Jake Soligo says off-season additions won’t change his role within the Crows’ midfield.

Soligo enjoyed career-best season in 2024, where he averaged 22 disposals, 3.7 tackles and 3.9 clearances across 23 matches, to earn third in the Crows’ Club Champion award.

Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Soligo said the inclusion of GWS pair James Peatling and Isaac Cumming, would only help make him a better player.

“It (the inclusions) doesn’t change my role,” Soligo said.

“I’d say I’d be playing maybe inside (the contest) and a little bit of wing, they’re (the coaches) still deciding what the rotations look like.

“I’m just excited to play alongside these talented players who we’ve got in, like JP (James Peatling), he’s been elite this pre-season.

“Rankine as well, seeing all those guys come through is just going to help me and make me a better player as well.”

The Crows’ preparation for their 2025 season continues when they take on Port Adelaide in a match simulation at the Summit Sport and Recreation Park, Mount Barker, this Friday.

Soligo said he was looking forward to playing against an opposition team, following almost four months of pre-season, which included an internal trial last Friday.

“It’s great to verse real oppo, instead of just playing against each other. It will definitely be nice to get back out there,” Soligo said.

“I thought we did some good stuff (during the internal trial).

“(But) it is very hard when you’re versing the people you train with, you all know what you’re doing, so I’m looking forward to playing against a real oppo.

“You train how you want to play and sometimes you’ll see out on the track here, you’ll get that as well.

“We are all competitive players out there and we just want to do our best.”

Gates will open for Adelaide’s match simulation game against Port Adelaide at 3pm, with the game to kick off at 5pm.

The match will be broadcast on Fox Footy, available on Kayo Sports and Foxtel.
