Major construction works on the Adelaide Oval Redevelopment are well and truly underway in preparation for football’s move to the world-class venue in 2014.
Both the Chappell and Bradman Stands have been demolished to make way for new southern and eastern stands seating 14,000 and 19,000 spectators respectively. In total, the stadium will have a seating capacity of 50,000.
Demolition of the existing beverage and toilet facilities in the Northern mound is complete and works to construct a new seating bowl and retaining walls are in progress. Iconic aspects of Adelaide Oval, including the Northern mound, heritage scoreboard, Moreton Bay Fig trees and the Cathedral reviews have been retained.

Adelaide chief executive Steven Trigg said the excitement surrounding the redevelopment was building.
“Adelaide Oval isn’t far away at all. As of this week, and not counting finals - we have 13 home games left at AAMI Stadium” Trigg said.
“There are now two really big holes in the ground at the new venue, and those big stands in the east and at the southern end will soon start to take shape.
“Our Club continues to put the finishing touches on our various venues within the ground, and to finalise everything from football changerooms to financial models. But by far the most thought is going into the best way to migrate our supporters (members and corporates) to Adelaide Oval in readiness for March 2014.
“More will be communicated on all of that very soon!”
