Young defender Daniel Talia enhanced his credentials as contender for the 2012 NAB Rising Star award, with an impressive display against Essendon on Sunday.

Talia, who is ranked third in the AFL in spoils (118), was at his defensive best in the win over the Bombers, effecting 10 spoilts - more than any player in the competition last round - and keeping Michael Hurley to a solitary goal. He's conceded an average of one goal in his 18 games this season.

He was also credited with a game-high 12 one-percenters, and is sixth in the AFL in that statistic (126).
