Symes best for Bulldogs
Brad Symes continues to push for an AFL recall with a best on ground performance for Central District on Sunday.
In his third game back from injury, Symes had 15 kicks, 10 handballs and kicked a goal in the Bulldogs’ narrow three point loss to the Redlegs.
Ricky Henderson kicked two goals from nine possessions, took four marks and had opportunities in the first half to kick two more goals. Jack Gunston had four kicks and two handballs for the Bulldogs.
Rookie Matthew Wright was a solid contributor to North Adelaide’s win against South Adelaide on Saturday.
Wright kicked two goals, gave off two and had 21 possessions and nine marks playing mainly at half forward. For the Panthers, Daniel Talia battled hard in defence all day and had three different opponents. He finished with 11 possessions and five marks. Myke Cook played on a wing and in the midfield and had good aggression at the contest despite only gathering nine disposals.
In the Eagles’ 14 point win over Port on Sunday, rookie Luke Thompson had a solid game in defence, controlling his opponent and collecting 19 possessions and five marks. Jarrhan Jacky had 13 kicks and four handballs in his return to league footy, playing mainly at half back and was lively up forward in the last quarter.
In the SANFL reserves, Brian Donnelly had some strong spoiling efforts in defence for the Bulldogs and used the ball well from eight possessions.
Shaun McKernan was a late withdrawal from South Adelaide’s side because of quad soreness.
Glenelg, West Adelaide and Sturt had the bye.
