Young Crows midfielder Sam Kerridge has switched guernseys, moving into the No 17 locker across from his old No 29.

And upgraded rookie Rory Laird has taken the opportunity to leave No 46 behind and follow Kerridge into No 29.

Kerridge was quick to seek a switch to No 17 after Bernie Vince was traded to Melbourne.

“I’ve always worn No 17, right through my junior footy, so I was keen to get it,” said Kerridge, who played 11 AFL games this season for a career total of 12.

Vince played 119 games in the number after starting his AFL career in No 28. He made the change in 2008 after the departure of Scott Welsh, who played 129 games in No 17.

Laird, first listed by the Crows as a rookie, made his AFL debut this year in No 46 and played 18 games.

As revealed when recruit Eddie Betts signed with the Crows last month, the exciting small forward has taken over the No 18 locker from 200-game Crow Graham Johncock.

But former Geelong forward James Podsiadly is still to be assigned his number for 2014.
