Coach Brenton Sanderson says he expects injured midfielder Patrick Dangerfield to press for selection for Balfours Showdown XXXV next weekend.
On Thursday night, the Crows confirmed Dangerfield would miss a second game with a badly sprained right AC joint. The 2012 All Australian sustained the injury in a collision with Collingwood onballer Sam Dwyer in Adelaide’s Round 16 loss to the Magpies.
The influential 23-year-old took part in the warm-up at main training on Wednesday, but didn’t do enough to be considered for selection to play Fremantle at Patersons Stadium on Saturday night.
“The injury hasn’t quite healed enough for Danger to play this week,” Sanderson told afc.com.au
“It was an easy call because we won’t take any unnecessary risk. Danger will come right into the frame for selection next week, which is exciting.”
Veteran full-back Ben Rutten, who will also miss the clash with Freo because of a shoulder complaint, is likely to be available to play against Port Adelaide next weekend.
