Rory Laird will make his first appearance for Adelaide this year in the Club’s SANFL trial against Woodville-West Torrens on Saturday.
Laird has overcome a nagging adductor injury and will line up in Adelaide’s second SANFL trial of 2014, which kicks off from 10.30am at AAMI Stadium. Entry to the trial game is free. Spectators are asked to enter via Gate 3 on the eastern side of the ground.
Skilful midfielder Rory Atkins will also get his first taste of competitive football as a Crow this season after sitting out the last trial with leg soreness.
The Crows will field a strong backline to combat the Eagles, with Laird to be joined by rugged backman Kyle Hartigan, former Eagle Luke Thompson, and veteran defender Brent Reilly as the 30-year-old continues his comeback from a shoulder reconstruction.
Josh Jenkins and Matt Crouch, who were both named as emergencies alongside Cam Ellis-Yolmen for Adelaide’s AFL clash with Geelong, will also feature.
Development duo George Hurley-Wellington and Darcy Bailey, the son of the late Dean Bailey, have also been named in the 25-man squad. Earlier this week, development coach Tate Kaesler told afc.com.au the team was looking forward to testing itself against the big-bodied Eagles.
