The Crows Foundation is pleased to announce that in Season 2014 it will grant its $1,000,000th charity dollar.
This year’s major charity partner is Variety – the children’s charity. The Foundation has contributed $50,000 to the Variety ‘Show of Hearts’ Scholarship program, assisting disadvantaged children to fulfil their talents in the field of sport, the arts or education.
Eight-year-old Jorja (pictured), who was born at just 26 weeks, has this year received a three-year scholarship to pursue her love of dance. She attends up to seven classes a week and lives to dance. The exercise is so very important to keep her body supple and flexible. Jorja is one of 27 children who will receive a Crows Foundation/Variety scholarship giving each recipient every chance to reach their full potential in a chosen field.
The Foundation will also partner with Operation Flinders and fund $16,500 to support their August camp to the Northern Finders Ranges for 10 ‘at risk’ youth. Participants will trek over 100 kilometres in eight days and will experience physical, emotional and psychological challenges in an isolated and unfamiliar environment. This is often a life changing journey for each participant.
Our third charity partner is Down Syndrome SA. The Crows Foundation will fund a 42 week ‘Club Jungle’ Saturday fitness program for up to 100 children aged 5 – 13 years. This weekly program will help build the children’s confidence, self-esteem, collaboration, confidence and increase fitness.
We look forward to working with each charity throughout the year.
