Adelaide has crushed Geelong in the latest round of head-to-head matches in the official AFL Fan Fantasy league.
The Fantasy Crows smashed the winless Cats to return to the winners’ circle after a shock loss to Brisbane last fortnight. The team’s total of 2090 points was the third-best score of the Fan Fantasy league for Round Seven and places the side just outside the top 10,000 teams in all of AFL Fantasy for 2014.
The 19th Man’s decision to trade in veteran Crow Scott Thompson (107 Fantasy points) continues to pay dividends, with teammates Patrick Dangerfield (101) and Sam Jacobs (110) also scoring heavily.
Jarryd Roughead (112) repaid our loyalty with his first Fantasy ton of the year, while fellow Hawk Matthew Suckling (120) and Sydney’s Jarrad McVeigh (122) carried our back line.
Our midfield once again performed strongly, led by captain Gary Ablett (119), as five of our eight on-field mids cracked the 100-point barrier including Port Adelaide’s Jared Polec (115) and Bulldog Tom Liberatore (110).
Fantasy points flowed up forward as well in what has normally been our weakest area of the ground so far this season, with Dangerfield, Roughead and Shaun Higgins (108) leading the charge.
While Adelaide’s AFL side has the week off, there is still an all-important match to be won this weekend when the Fantasy Crows take on league leaders North Melbourne.
Both clubs have the Round Eight bye, and both Fantasy sides feature many of their own players, which will produce carnage on the Fantasy field in this week's matchup.
This means our decisions at the trade table this week are crucial.
Sam Mitchell must be moved on given the Hawk veteran could be sidelined for up to two months with a hamstring injury. Vote below on who should replace Mitchell from a group of the competition’s in-form defenders.
The time has also come to trade Luke McDonald after a sub-affected 21 points last round. The dual-position defender will not play in Round Eight regardless, so now is the perfect time to bring in a worthy replacement with an achievable break even.
With no Gary Ablett in Round Eight, the 19th man must also choose wisely when selecting our Fantasy captain for the round.
Study our team below and cast your vote on who should join the Fantasy Crows as we take on the top-placed North Melbourne and look to reclaim our spot on top of the AFL Fan Fantasy ladder.
