The Adelaide Football Club tonight provided the City of Adelaide with an update on its proposal to build a sports and community hub in North Adelaide.
At the request of the council, the Club tabled its response to several guiding principles relating to a new integrated sports, aquatic and community centre that would also become the new home for the Crows.
The project is earmarked for the current site of the ageing swim centre on Jeffcott Road and will now proceed to a council-led public consultation process.
The presentation to council outlined how the proposal could reduce the existing building footprint and therefore return accessible green landscapes parklands to the community, facilitate increased linkages to O’Connell Street, and provide public access to high-quality sporting ovals.
Crows CEO Andrew Fagan noted it was only the first step in what was an ongoing and lengthy process.
“We have worked very hard to meet the guiding principles put forward by the council and we now look forward to taking part in the public consultation process,” Fagan said.
