Josh Jenkins has been rewarded for his seven-goal haul against St Kilda with another starting spot in the AFL’s Team of the Week.

Jenkins’ seven majors was the biggest bag of any player in the competition last round, moving him into fourth spot in the Coleman Medal race with 34 goals for the season. The key forward also amassed a career-best 24 possessions and took 13 marks, including nine inside Adelaide’s attacking 50.

While Sunday afternoon was his turn to hit the scoreboard, Jenkins has also proven unselfish in front of goal this year too. He currently shares top spot in the competition in goal assists (14) and is fifth for total score assists (19).

Jenkins was named at full-forward in the Round 11 side alongside Kangaroo Daniel Wells and Port Adelaide goalkicker Aaron Young.

Voting open for fans’ MVP

It’s the third time Jenkins has been recognised in the Team of the Week. The key forward also got the nod in Adelaide’s losses to the Western Bulldogs and North Melbourne in Rounds Seven and One respectively.

His latest performance also received accolades from both Don Pyke and Alan Richardson, and he smashed his career-best AFL Fantasy score.

Jenkins was the only Crow named in the latest Team of the Week. Young midfielder Matt Crouch, reliable defender Daniel Talia and consistent onballer Rory Sloane were among those unlucky to be overlooked.

Geelong and North Melbourne led the way this week with three players included each. Greater Western Sydney, Carlton, Hawthorn, the Western Bulldogs, Melbourne and Port Adelaide all had two representatives in the Round 11 Team of the Week.

Rory Laird (three times), Eddie Betts (twice), Daniel Talia (twice), Rory Sloane, Rory Atkins, Scott Thompson, Tom Lynch and Taylor Walker are the other Crows who have been recognised in AFL Media’s Team of the Week throughout the course of the season so far.
