Many began to write off Adelaide’s evening late in the third quarter of Saturday’s clash with West Coast.

Some even declared the season over.

But despite trailing by 27 points, the 22 players in the tricolours refused to wave the white flag and give up.

The Crows strung together arguably their best football of the season, booting six consecutive goals in just over 16 minutes of playing time on the way to a 10-point victory.

Skipper Taylor Walker was full of praise for his side’s spirit and leadership after the inspired come-from-behind win over the Eagles.

“It’s a great effort. Obviously, the bye came at the right time for us,” Walker told AFC Media post-game.

“To be able to regroup and play with some confidence and play a four-quarter effort, I’m super proud of the boys.”

“They [West Coast] are a great quality side and we knew it was going to be hot and it just took four quarters to get there in the end.

“We were down by five goals and it shows a fair bit of spirit to be able to get back and win the game.”

The Crows dominated proceedings in the final quarter, winning the inside 50 count 24-4, contested possessions 49-28 and clearances 16-6.

Walker said winning around the contests was one of the key messages from the huddle at three-quarter time.

“We just spoke about playing fundamental footy, winning the contest and forcing it forward,” he said.

“We had even numbers ahead of the ball and we were able to get the job done in the end.”

Adelaide remains in the finals race following Saturday’s win, sitting just four points plus percentage outside the top eight.

However, the fixture doesn’t get easier for the Crows, with ladder leaders Richmond awaiting them at the MCG on a six-day turnaround.

The Tigers have won 16 consecutive games at the home of football, including last year’s Grand Final, but Walker and his teammates are looking forward to the challenge that awaits.

“We’ve set ourselves up for a big second half of the year and looking forward to what we can produce,” he said.

“They’re up (at) the top of the ladder, so why not challenge ourselves. Going over there, play them at the ‘G. Played them (in the) Grand Final there last year.

“Let’s go over there with a bit of confidence and try and knock them off."
