Adelaide is preparing to ‘roll up the sleeves’ and put in a big week on the training track after Friday’s disappointing 22-point loss to Geelong at Simonds Stadium.
The Crows were comprehensively beaten in the contest, losing the contested possession count to the Cats 164-130. It’s a measure Adelaide led the competition in for the first ten rounds of 2017, with an average differential of +14.2 per game.
After reviewing the tape at West Lakes on Monday to identify areas for improvement, the focus will immediately shift to the Round 12 clash with St Kilda at Adelaide Oval.
“We’ll have to sit down and dissect the game and review it, but you always take something out of every game whether it’s a win or a loss,” forward Tom Lynch told afc.com.au.
“The coaches will review the game with the players and early in the week we’ll come up with a few ideas on what we need to improve on and we’ll train that.
“We’re looking forward to getting in front of our fans, we were lucky enough to have 40-odd thousand in the wet last week. On a Friday night, it’s going to be pretty electric at Adelaide Oval and hopefully we can come away with the win before our bye.”
Despite the loss at The Cattery, Adelaide is still well placed at the halfway point of the season, sitting second on the ladder with an 8-3 record.
“We’ve got some work to do, but at the same time we’re doing a lot of things right in the first half of the year,” Lynch said.
“To mix it with the best teams, we’re going to have to make sure we front up for four quarters. We’ve been able to do that against some really good teams this year, but on Friday night it wasn’t our night.”
