Adelaide forward Riley Thilthorpe will miss the Club’s Round 10 clash against the Bulldogs in Ballarat this Saturday.

Crows Senior Coach Matthew Nicks revealed to the media on Wednesday that Thilthorpe would be managed this weekend, as he battled knee soreness.

“Riley won’t play this weekend (and) that’s more precautionary than anything," Nicks said.

“He received that knock in the first quarter on the weekend, he did incredibly well to push through for us to get right through last week’s game.

“We were concerned post-game but had some scans done, (which revealed) no structural damage.

“So that’s the positive out of it, but we won’t take any risks."

Nicks said Thilthorpe, who has played eight games this season and kicked eight goals, was a key cog in the Crows' forward line and ensuring the 20-year-old's long-term future was important.

“We wouldn’t (risk it) with any player but especially with a player like Riley and what he has gone through," Nicks said.

“He’s an important part of a team that’s played really strong footy at the moment, he’s been a big part of that.

“These knocks and this soreness you don’t take any risks around."

Adelaide plays Western Bulldogs at Mars Stadium, Ballarat, on Saturday at 1.40pm (ASCT).
