Adelaide forward Taylor Walker says the performance against Collingwood on Sunday showed that the Crows game-plan is “stacking up” with the top sides in the competition.

Speaking on Triple M Breakfast with Roo, Ditts & Loz on Tuesday, Walker said there were many positives to come out of the one-point loss to the Magpies, which the squad could take a great deal of confidence out of moving forward.

“I think they (Collingwood) are the best side in the competition at the moment and we took it right up to them and controlled the game for 119 minutes and 30 seconds,” Walker said.

“So there are some real positives out of it and our game plan is really stacking up against good sides which is a great sign.

“We are playing some good footy at the moment, we just need that cream at the top of the cake.”

Walker did admit goal-kicking was an issue on Sunday evening, but was confident in the work the group was doing behind the scenes that the problem would not become a trend.

“I remember Craigy (Neil Craig) used to say there is a hardness in finishing and I completely agree with him, we get paid to finish our goals and we need to finish our goals,” Walker said.

“We do a lot of work (on goal-kicking), a few guys who have come from other clubs have said they can’t believe how much we do, so it is good to know that we do the work.

“Now it’s just about translating that onto the field when the pressure is on in front of 40,000 people.

“We will continue working at it and make sure it doesn’t become a regular pattern of events.”

Adelaide will get a chance to return to the winners’ list this Saturday afternoon, as it travels to Geelong to face the reigning premiers.

While he was fully aware of the challenge the Cats would present on their home deck, Walker said he was confident the Crows’ best footy would be good enough to come away with a victory.

“They (Geelong) are finding some really good form, but I think we are a good chance,” Walker said.

“If we play the way we want to play and play Crows footy we will certainly give ourselves a good opportunity to beat them down there (at Geelong).”

Adelaide plays Geelong at GMHBA Stadium on Saturday, with the first bounce at 1.40pm (ACST).
