Midfielder Rory Sloane believes he’ll be fit to tackle Gold Coast at Metricon Stadium on Saturday.
Sloane was substituted early in the final quarter of Showdown XXXVIII because of a corked calf.
The 2013 Crows Club Champion will need to prove his fitness ahead of the clash with the Suns, but said he was confident of taking his place in the team.
“I think I’ll get up. I’ll be fine, I reckon,” Sloane told the Triple M Rush Hour on Tuesday.
“I’m feeling alright. I struggled to walk on it after the game, it seized up a bit. For the past couple of days, I’ve been lying in bed keeping (fiancé) Belinda awake with this ice machine.
“It’s all just part of footy.”
Sloane said he sustained the injury, which got progressively worse, in the first quarter on Sunday.
“It happened early in the game. It was a knock to my calf that just never got any better,” he said.
“Normally, you can sort of get through a game with it ... We needed plenty of speed against Port and I was just lacking that.
“We thought it was best to introduce ‘Wrighty’ (substitute Matt Wright) to give us some (run) and help try and win it for us.”
The Crows have already been dealt one injury blow ahead of the Gold Coast trip, with Richard Douglas set to miss up to six weeks with a foot complaint. Defender Ricky Henderson is also facing a fitness test after suffering a knock to the chest in the loss to Port Adelaide.
The Suns have their own concerns, with draftee Jarrod Garlett (ankle) and defender Seb Tape (knee) to join captain Gary Ablett (shoulder), young midfielders David Swallow (knee) and Jaeger O’Meara (knee) and recruit Nick Malceski (knee) on the sidelines. The Club has also suspended key trio Harley Bennell, Trent McKenzie and Brandon Matera for failing to meet team standards.
