A worldwide electronics giant has partnered with the Adelaide Football Club, with Samsung Electronics Australia signing as a sponsor.
Samsung will support Adelaide’s esports division, Legacy Esports, as their exclusive Screen and Memory Partner.
The Adelaide Football Club acquired Legacy Esports in May 2017, becoming the first professional sporting body in Australia to purchase an esports team.
Esports is professional online gaming, through multiplayer computer or video games such as League of Legends, Overwatch, Counter Strike: Global Offensive and Rocket League.
Samsung will supply high-performance 960 EVO Series NVMe M.2 SSDs and 24-inch CFG70 Curved Gaming Monitors, giving Legacy’s seven teams a competitive edge.
The high-profile company will feature on Legacy’s game day jersey and merchandise, as well as the High Performance Centre at West Lakes.
Adelaide Crows Chief Operating Officer Nigel Smart said this partnership will provide fans with the opportunity to engage with the online gaming team like never before.
“We are thrilled with the Samsung agreement, they will provide Legacy Esports with key digital assets that will assist the teams’ performance,” Smart said.
“This partnership will help raise awareness of esports in Australia and we look forward to seeing the impact Legacy can have on growing the industry alongside Samsung.”
Business Unit Manager - Samsung Brand Memory Matt Nelson said that following the International Olympic Committee’s recent acknowledgement of esports, the industry is set for an exciting phase.
“We’re seeing an evolution in how people define sport in the 21st century,” Nelson said.
“The rising popularity of esports in Australia has been incredible to watch, and we are looking forward to going on the journey with Legacy’s teams this year.
“With the addition of Samsung’s leading SSDs and gaming monitors to their setup, we can’t wait to see how they use our technology to their advantage.”
Samsung is the latest high-profile company to partner with the Crows’ online gaming division, joining Razer, ISC, Migration Solutions, and Muscle Meals as part of the team.
