Blight, goalkicking great Ken Farmer and triple Magarey medallists Barrie Robran and Russell Ebert are the four chosen champions, with the identity of the first sculpture to be revealed at an opening in the oval’s Southern Plaza on Friday morning.
Fans and members of the public can attend the unveiling of the first sculpture – generously donated by Basil Sellers AM - at 10.30am. The Southern Plaza is located on War Memorial Drive, just a short walk from the new footbridge crossing the River Torrens. The ceremony is expected to last 30 minutes with members of the public permitted to have their photo taken next to the sculpture at the conclusion of the ceremony.
Blight, who coached Adelaide to AFL premierships in 1997 and 1998, started his league career at Woodville and won the 1972 Magarey Medal before moving to North Melbourne, where he played in two VFL premierships and won the 1978 Brownlow Medal.
