Richard Douglas is awaiting medical clearance to determine his availability for Showdown XXXVI.

Douglas was initially expected to miss at least a month after sustaining a heavy knock to his groin in Adelaide’s trial match win over Greater Western Sydney on March 7. However, the midfielder is progressing well post-surgery and could return against Port Adelaide on Saturday afternoon.

A medical call on Douglas’ availability for the Showdown won’t be made until late in the week.

Forward James Podsiadly has been cleared of any damage to his arm.

Podsiadly suffered a ‘dead’ arm in the first quarter of Adelaide’s clash with Geelong, but returned to the field to play out the game. The Crows didn’t report any new injuries in either the AFL or SANFL games over the weekend.

Tom Lynch (shoulder) and Andy Otten (knee) are progressing in their recoveries, but are still listed as 3-5 weeks away on the Club’s official injury list. Defender Rory Laird made a successful return from an adductor complaint in Adelaide’s SANFL trial match against Woodville-West Torrens on Saturday.

The Crows will hold an open training session on Adelaide Oval from midday on Friday. The session is expected to last approximately 45-60 minutes. Entrance is via the northern end of the ground.

Showdown XXXVI will start at 4:15pm on Saturday. The game will be broadcast live on Fox Footy and Channel Seven.

A reminder, the Club’s ‘Chants Hour’ will be held at 6:30pm on The Shed floor on Monday (March 24). More details here.
