Who are the most-popular Crows in the 2013 AFL Fantasy Dream Team competition?

The answers might surprise you.

Check out the top-10 most-selected Crows by DT Coaches this season …

1. Brad Crouch, $108,500 (MID)
52,525 selections
2013 Games: One
Points average: 62.00

Almost a quarter of all Dream Teamers own emerging midfielder, Brad Crouch, and for good reason. Despite not being eligible for AFL selection in 2012, Crouch has benefited from a full year in the system and playing against bigger bodies in the SANFL. He’s was considered worthy of a top-five draft pick, but because of the manner in which he was recruited, doesn’t carry the hefty price tag. Crouch scored 62 points on debut in the wet against Brisbane and should be regular in the team.

2. Patrick Dangerfield, $525,000 (MID)
48,160 selections
2013 Games: Two
Points average: 73.00

Dangerfield rocketed to elite status in a breakout 2012 season. He was one of the most improved players in the competition and this was reflected in his Dream Team scores. The influential onballer has attracted more attention from opposition taggers, but showed he’s a tough man to keep down, kicking two match-defining goals in the last quarter against Brisbane. Stick with him.

3. Sam Jacobs, $449,900 (RUCK)
27,483 selections
2013 Games: Two
Points average: 80.00

Unlucky not to make the All Australian team, Dream Teamers have recognised Jacobs for his outstanding 2012 season. He will continue to shoulder the majority of Adelaide’s ruck duties and is handy around goals when resting up forward.

4. Taylor Walker, $448,900 (FWD)
26,491 selections
2013 Games: Two
Points average: 70.50

Another Crow rewarded for a standout year in 2012. Walker will attract the opposition’s best defender every week, but is tough to keep quiet for a whole game. The damaging forward generated six scoring shots against experienced Brisbane defender Daniel Merrett and has averaged 70.50 points in two games without tearing a game apart.

5. Daniel Talia, $180,000 (DEF)
21,633 selections
2013 Games: Two
Points average: 30.50

A brilliant defender but not a renowned possession-getter, Talia’s position in the top-five most popular Crows selections is interesting. The 2012 NAB Rising Star will only set you back $180,000, but with an average of just 30.50 points in two games this season, you wouldn’t want to bring him off the bench too often.

6. Jack Osborn, $89,300 (RUC)
17,221 selections
2013 Games: Nil
Points average: N/A

Osborn has enormous upside but given his limited football background in recent years and current hip injury, it’s unlikely he’ll play AFL this season. Priced under $90,000 he’s one of the cheaper ruck options in the competition – you get the feeling the big guy is occupying a bench spot in the majority of these teams.

7. Scott Thompson, $541,200 (MID)
16,006 selections
2013 Games: Two
Points average: 94.00

One of the premier midfielders in the competition and top possession-getters last season, it’s hard to fathom that only 16,000 coaches have Thompson in their team. The reliable Crow had a quiet game in Round One, which could see his price drop next week. Keep an eye on him if he isn’t in your side already.

8. Luke Brown, $147,700 (DEF)
14,021 selections
2013 Games: Two
Points average: 54.50

An astute pick. Brown has cemented his spot in the team, which is more that can be said for most defenders in his price range. Often used in a shut down role, but showed his ball winning ability against Brisbane, racking up 74 points. Should enjoy a nice price rise after his third game for the year next week.

9. Josh Jenkins, $316,100 (RUC/FWD)
11,611 selections
2013 Games: Two
Points average: 78.50

Another good selection. Like Brown, Jenkins appears to have a bit of job security and his dual-position status adds extra appeal. The strong-bodied Crow is still developing his game, but has the potential to score big, as evidenced by his 100-point game against the Lions.

10. Sam Kerridge (MID/FWD)
9,465 selections
2013 Games: Nil
Points average: N/A

Yet to play a game this season, but knocking loudly on the selection door. Kerridge was a standout for Sturt last weekend and is bound to get another taste of AFL soon. Another dual-position player.
