Adelaide’s David Mackay has tonight been cleared of any wrongdoing by the AFL Tribunal.

Mackay fronted the tribunal via video link to answer a charge of rough conduct unreasonable following a collision with St Kilda’s Hunter Clark in the second quarter of the Club’s Round 13 game in Cairns.

The 32-year-old, who has played 239 AFL games, pleaded not guilty to the charge after the matter was referred directly to the tribunal by the Match Review Officer.

“I’d like to say that I’m obviously relieved with the outcome of the hearing tonight, and I’d like to thank my legal representative Andrew Culshaw and the Adelaide Footy Club for throwing their support behind me,” Mackay said.

“But all week my thoughts have centred around Hunter (Clark) and his wellbeing.

“It was never my intention to cause any harm, I was only trying to win the ball so I wish him nothing but the best moving forward.”

Mackay is free to play in Adelaide’s next game against Carlton in Round 15.
