South Adelaide has emerged as the early SANFL pacesetter, winning its fourth consecutive game to start the season.
The Panthers trailed for large periods of the game against Central District at Elizabeth on Saturday but hit the front late in the final term and won by eight points.
Brett Eddy booted six goals in South’s first win at the ground since 1999.
Eagles key forward Michael Wundke and Andrew Ainger both kicked four goals in the Eagles six-point win over Sturt at Unley on Sunday. Midfielders James Boyd and Luke Powell dominated to collect 50 possessions and 15 clearances between them while Michael Coad booted five goals for Sturt.
Port Magpies captain Steve Summerton had 39 possessions and John Butcher kicked five goals in a 58-point win over winless West Adelaide on Saturday.
Former Carlton forward Luke Mitchell bagged four goals for North Adelaide in its 21-point win over Norwood at Adelaide Oval on Anzac Day.
More than 27,000 fans watched the five SANFL games, the most since Adelaide joined the AFL in 1991.
