THE Crows aren’t strangers to the MCG but they aren’t exactly regulars either.

And that makes their perfect record at the ground in 2009 something the players take pride in.

Full back Ben Rutten had the toughest job of all on Lance Franklin during the 27-point win over the Hawks.

He kept Buddy to four second-half goals but said keeping the winning feeling at the MCG had been the main focus.

“It’s our third game here for the year and our third win,” Rutten said.

“Obviously it is where the finals are played so we want to have a good record here.

“Then we can have a lot of confidence going into games we play here.”

Adelaide has lost to the three competition pacesetters Collingwood, St Kilda and Geelong in the past five weeks but Rutten said the side had faith they could compete with the best.

“The Geelong game could have gone either way but we just fell short and the Collingwood game we played some good footy, especially in the first half,” Rutten said.

“We felt we were in good form and it was a good result tonight.”

The Crows conceded the first five goals of the match and Rutten said some simple adjustments were required to get back into the game.

“It wasn’t the start we were planning that’s for sure. They were really good early and we were pretty ordinary around the stoppages and contested ball,” Rutten said.

“You can’t let the differential blow out too much and we did; so it was good to get to quarter time and Craigy let us know a couple of areas where we could tidy up.

“But we persisted and that was good.”
