Adelaide forward Taylor Walker says the playing group is drawing inspiration from a rousing Round One win ahead of Saturday’s Showdown 49.
Chatting to Triple M’s The Rush Hour, Walker says the group has taken a hard look at game style after last weekend’s GWS loss.
“The last few weeks we were in the position to win both games but unfortunately weren’t able to do it, then unfortunately on the weekend we probably took a step backwards,” Walker said.
“We just spoke about how the little things make bigger mistakes, we were a little bit off in so many areas and the result obviously took care of itself.”
Walker said while the Crows were always looking forward, reflecting on an inspiring performance in Round One against Geelong would remain a motivator.
“We have gone back to that a few times - that’s the game we want to emulate going forward, but we’ve just got to try and do it again,” he said.
The big forward also gave a tongue-in-cheek recount of some 2012 tackling troubles.
“Craigie (Neil Craig) told me that I had to tackle, then I did tackle and I got suspended twice,” he joked.
“I remember when we played Richmond at Aami Stadium and I got told I wasn’t tackling enough, so I came in and got Steven Morris and dumped him on his head.
“And then I got the tap on the shoulder on Monday saying I got reported… I said, ‘What bloody for?!’.
“I did it a couple of weeks later when I’d come back with Harry Taylor, slung him and got a couple of weeks as well.”
With tackling woes in the past, Walker said he and his side would be giving the Showdown their all.
The Crows will face the Power on Saturday at 7.10pm. The Clubs’ SANFL sides will also face off in a curtain raiser before the match at Adelaide Oval.
