Adelaide Captain Jordan Dawson has lauded the development of two young teammates, as the Crows enjoy a solid start to their 2025 campaign.

Not since 2017 has Adelaide won its first three games to start a season, and Dawson said it was off the back of team-first mentality with everyone playing their role.

But speaking on this week’s episode of The Crows Show, the Skipper said he was particularly impressed with the way draftee Sid Draper and second-year utility Dan Curtin had slotted into their respective roles.

“It’s hard to pin-point a couple because we’ve been really consistent as a team, which has led to some really good team wins,” Dawson said.

“Sid’s been awesome, he’s playing some good footy. It’s been hard for him to crack in but to maintain the sub role and come on and have an impact has been huge.

“He’s an exciting player, he’s got good footwork, he’s really raw - but we all were at 18 - he’s still learning the game and learning his craft, but he is just a great young fella.

“I think week-to-week you can see Dan build his confidence. He’s able to take a few big pack marks, or take a ground ball clean and drive through a tackle. He’s a real beast of a human, he probably doesn’t realise that yet… so I am excited for how he’s trending.”

Although predominantly playing in the midfield, with the addition of James Peatling and Izak Rankine spending more time on-ball, Dawson has also featured up-forward this season.

Dawson said having a new midfield mix had helped him take his game to another level.

“I’m feeling a bit fresher and running out games a bit better, as well,” Dawson said.

“To have more guys go through the midfield is important for us, especially the longer the season drags on.

“But then also to get a bit of leg speed with Ranks and Peatling and those guys in there as well.

“The feeling is definitely really positive, it’s good to get some evidence of what we’ve been practising over the pre-season. We’ve got a few challenges coming up, but to get a few wins on the board early is really nice.”

Also on The Crows Show this week, AFLW Co-Captain Ebony Marinoff chats to draftee India Rasheed, and Ben Keays gets to know more about teammate Nick Murray’s farm.

The Crows Show is on Channel 7 Adelaide this Sunday at 11am.
