Lewis Johnston is facing a longer stint on the sidelines than initially expected following surgery.
The specialist thought Johnston’s hand injury would keep him sidelined for six weeks, but surgery revealed the damage to be more extensive than first thought. The goalkicker is now likely to miss 11 weeks.
Young midfielder Brad Crouch ran laps of Max Basheer Reserve on Monday as he continues his recovery from a fractured leg. Crouch is expected to return through the SANFL in a fortnight.
Scans have cleared acting co-captain Patrick Dangerfield of any structural damage to his back following a heavy collision against Carlton on Sunday. Dangerfield is expectec to play Gold Coast this weekend.
Defender Sam Shaw (illness) was a late withdrawal from Adelaide’s SANFL win over South Adelaide. Shaw will be given another week to fully recover. Utility Shaun McKernan was poked in the eye in a ruck contest at Noarlunga on Sunday and will need to pass a fitness test to play this week.

Forward Tom Lynch is a month away from a return from a fractured jaw.
The Crows will hold an open training session at Adelaide Oval from 10:00am on Saturday, May 31. The session will last approximately one hour. Adelaide takes on Gold Coast in an Indigenous Round clash at Adelaide Oval at 12:40pm on Sunday.
