Adelaide forward Darcy Fogarty wants to “feed off” Club legend Mark Ricciuto ahead of his fourth season at the elite level.
Fogarty dons the No. 32 guernsey immortalised by the Club’s only Brownlow Medallist but revealed that Ricciuto’s legacy continues off the field as well.
The forward said he and the 312-game star had been talking over the off-season.
“I message Roo a little bit and he gives me a heap of support,” Fogarty said.
“To have one of the Club greats contact you regularly is unbelievable… and to feed off him is unreal.”
Fogarty said he was ready to go after shedding a “couple of kilos” to help him with his pace at training.
The 21-year-old also has high hopes for one of the Club’s newest recruits, Riley Thilthorpe.
“He’s an exciting player, he’s going to be a gun,” Fogarty said of the 18-year-old draft pick.
“He’s had an immediate impact… for him to come in and show everyone what he can do at such an early stage of the preseason is really good.”
Fogarty said the boys had been training hard in the forward line with a major focus on delivery and pressure.
“We need to start competing a lot more in the air and giving our smalls an opportunity to go after it,” he said.
“I want it to be my year... but we’ll have to wait and see.”
