AFL Fantasy 2014 is now live for coaches to pick and tinker with their teams as we approach the new season.

There are three ways to build your own team to take on fellow supporters, footy experts, and AFL players.

AFL Fantasy Classic gives coaches a $10 million dollar salary cap to splurge on an ultimate dream team from all players from every club in the AFL.

Coaches can utilise two trades every round for a maximum of 42 trades for the season, with a new ‘best 18’ formula applied during the AFL bye rounds.

A team’s strength is limited only by its week-to-week salary cap, giving an advantage to shrewd Fantasy coaches, who can manage their funds efficiently.

But beware – a major change in 2014 sees gun draftees laced with a hefty price premium creating new challenges for even the savviest Fantasy gurus.

Once again, coaches can put their AFL Fantasy credentials on the line by joining the official Adelaide Football Club Fantasy league to compare and compete against fellow Crows supporters.

The two newest games added to the AFL Fantasy world last year will be back in 2014, with AFL Fantasy Elite proving a popular choice in its inaugural season.

Fantasy Elite allows users to create a personalised private league, with the prime attraction the option to conduct a live league draft – piling the pressure on Fantasy coaches in real time.

A player can only join one team in each league in the Fantasy Elite format, commanding a greater sense of strategy, wit and football fantasy instinct than the other Fantasy codes.

Fantasy Match Day is the third format available, allowing coaches a quick Fantasy fix in an individual game of their choosing.

Coaches must select the seven most prolific scorers from the competing teams, with 65 games of the 2014 AFL season included in the Fantasy Match Day fixture.

Who will you choose as you take the reins in the local Showdown? Which players will you trust in the traditional ANZAC day clash at the MCG? Who will stand tall in the fiery Western Derby?
