The Adelaide Football Club congratulates former long-standing Chair Rob Chapman who was recognised in the Australia Day Honours today.

Chapman, who oversaw some defining moments in Crows history, received a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for his service to football and the finance sector.

He spent 14 years on the Club’s Board, including 12 as Chair, and was at the helm when the Crows made the important step of taking control of their licence from the SANFL, home games were moved to Adelaide Oval, a premiership-winning women’s team was formed, and the building of a strong financial platform.

Currently the Executive Chairman of Chapman Capital Partners, he has an extensive background in the financial services industry which includes previous roles as Chief Executive Officer of St George Banking Group and Managing Director of Bank SA.

Chapman also serves as a Director or Chair for several well-known South Australian and national Boards, including but not limited to, Coopers Brewery Limited and Adelaide Airport Limited. He is a Senior Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia.

On behalf of everyone associated with the Club, current Crows Chairman John Olsen extended his congratulations.

“Rob has always been a strong voice for the Adelaide Football Club, both locally and nationally, and he continues to be one of our most passionate supporters,” Olsen said.

“During his time as Chair, he showed unwavering commitment and resilience and the Club is better for his contribution.

“Rob is a true Club person who is generous with his time and continues to assist in our endeavours when and where required, which is a testament to his passion and dedication.”
