THE FINAL day of the NAB AFL Trade Period has arrived and some big deals are still to be completed in what shapes as a dramatic run to the finish.

Still waiting in the wings are Carlton midfielder Bryce Gibbs, Gold Coast midfielder Jaeger O'Meara and Richmond veteran Brett Deledio, who are all seeking new homes.

A flurry of smaller deals and pick swaps are also expected to be completed before the Trade Period closes at 2pm AEDT.

Clarkson's circuit breaker falls short in Jaeger talks

Alastair Clarkson visited Gold Coast chairman Tony Cochrane at his home on Saturday morning but the pair was unable to reach common ground, the Herald Sun reports.

As AFL.com.au reported, the Jaeger O'Meara talks are on a knife's edge going into the final day of trading and Cochrane's hard-line stance on not accepting the Hawks' offer of picks 10 and 48 won't waver.

Clarkson visited Cochrane at 7am on Saturday for more than an hour in an attempt to break through in negotiations, which have remained tense for the entire NAB AFL Trade Period.

Efforts to include a Hawthorn player in the deal at the request of the Suns have failed.

Deledio's future at Richmond untenable

Brett Deledio will move to Greater Western Sydney on the final day of the trade period, having decided his future at the Tigers is untenable, according to the Herald Sun

Richmond publicly said on Wednesday it would welcome Deledio back if he chose not to pursue a trade, but the veteran has cleared out his locker and told teammates he wants out.

The Age reports GWS will send Richmond a future first-round pick for Deledio, while the Herald Sun says a deal will likely be done for the Giants' pick No.15.

AFL.com.au reported on Wednesday night that the Western Bulldogs had made an aggressive bid for Deledio and Collingwood put in an 11th hour inquiry.

The Herald Sun reports Deledio completed medical assessments with the Bulldogs on Wednesday, after an earlier arrangement with the 2016 premiers was abandoned when coach Luke Beveridge went cold on the idea.

Tigers confident in landing Caddy

Richmond appears likely to land Josh Caddy for a second-round draft pick, according to The Age.

The newspaper reports the Tigers and Cats haggling over whether pick 24 or 27 makes its way to Geelong.

Caddy has long been linked to the Deledio deal, but the Tigers' ability to move Deledio to GWS now means they have salary cap space to accommodate the young midfielder.

Richmond would be Caddy's third club after starting his career with Gold Coast in 2011.

Gibbs likely to stay at Carlton

The Age reports that Carlton was insisting on Wednesday night that Bryce Gibbs was likely to remain at Ikon Park in 2017, rather than leaving for Adelaide as had appeared likely.

The Blues are believed to have demanded two first-round picks for Gibbs, leaving the Crows to find a second prized selection to pair with their pick No.13.

Gibbs has three years remaining on his contract with Carlton, but wants to return to South Australia for family reasons.

Meanwhile, The Age reports the Blues will trade picks 45 and 55 for GWS midfielder Jarrod Pickett and get the Giants' pick 58 back.
