Adelaide big man Billy Frampton booted three goals in a close-fought scratch match with Port Adelaide on Friday at Alberton Oval.

Frampton was dominant across the ground, taking strong overhead marks while also bringing the ball to ground for Adelaide’s small forwards.

“Billy was really good,” Development Manager Heath Younie said.

“He’s shown some real improvements with his training and was able to get some reward off the back of some strong training form.”

In a game played across three 20-minute intervals, with minor breaks at each 10-minute mark, the undermanned Crows took the challenge to the Power with a strong, four-goal opening quarter.

Lachlan Gollant, Patrick Wilson and Ben Crocker all booted majors, with ruckman Kieran Strachan jumping on the score sheet later in the game.

Dynamic defender Will Hamill played his first match since suffering a second concussion of the season in Round 10 against Melbourne.

Hamill played well off of half-back, showing the silky skills and dashing runs that have caught the eye at AFL level.

“We went conservative with will given it was his first game back off of his concussion,” Younie said.

“I thought Will showed enough to suggest he’ll put his hand up for selection in the Carlton game.

“I like the way he attacked it, we focussed on his ability to get involved offensively with handball receives and he did that really well as the game went on.”

Veteran Bryce Gibbs was a rock in defence and the midfield, showing his experience with composure to steady the Crows at times.

Wilson accumulated disposals throughout the day and booted a classy goal in the opening term.

Each team played 15-a-side, with the Crows borrowing four rotating players from the Power.
