Adelaide ruckman Reilly O’Brien believes Tuesday night’s win over Hawthorn will provide a big confidence boost heading into the final three rounds.

The 25-year-old was again dominant, notching 26 hitouts, 19 disposals, 12 contested possessions and a game-high five contested marks.

His 26 hitouts in his 34th game made O’Brien the fastest AFL player to reach 1000 total.

Following the Club’s first win of 2020, O’Brien said the focus would be finishing the season strong.

“I think you get to a point where you forget how to win,” O’Brien told AFC Media.

“You lose that composure… I think from here we’ll take confidence from that (win).

“Playing that same brand of footy, seeking the contest, and a bit of that composure we gained from learning to win again… it will hold us in good stead (for the rest of the season) and hopefully slingshot us into next year.”

 O’Brien was full of praise for his midfield teammates, particularly young Harry Schoenberg who booted two goals on the night.

“We were consistent across the board, but around the midfield, the Crouch boys were awesome, Benny Keays and Harry Schoenberg was lively,” he said.

“I saw him fend off Shaun Burgoyne at one stage which was pretty nice… saw him do a couple of good things.

“Across the board, backs and forwards were awesome as well.

“I feel like everyone contributed really well.”
