Patrick Dangerfield has jumped to equal-fourth in the AFL Coaches Association Player of the Year award after polling another perfect 10 against Fremantle.
Dangerfield amassed 34 possessions (22 contested), 10 clearances, eight tackles and two crucial goals to be judged Adelaide’s best player for a third straight week. The explosive onballer, who earned top votes in the Crows’ win over Essendon in round 19, has now polled 25 votes in his past three matches.
His late-season surge has seen him join teammate Scott Thompson and Western Bulldogs skipper Matthew Boyd on 74 votes. The trio is 19 votes behind outright leader and Richmond star Trent Cotchin.
Matthew Wright was voted the next-best player on the ground last weekend. The in-form midfielder earned eight votes for his best-ever game, in which he collected 37 disposals, five clearances and kicked two goals. Taylor Walker (six votes) was recognised for his game-high four goals, while Daniel Talia (two votes) and skipper Nathan van Berlo (one) vote were rewarded for their respective defensive jobs on Matthew Pavlich and Stephen Hill.
Defender Paul Duffield (two votes) and tough onballer Matt De Boer (one vote) were the only Freo players to receive votes from coaches Brenton Sanderson and Ross Lyon.
