Young Tasman Follett is the toast of Langhorne Creek. The six-year-old was the lucky winner of the Adelaide Crows Community Camp competition and his school will field a team to take on the Adelaide Crows at Encounter Bay oval on Friday, February 10, at about 11am.

Tasman, a reception student at the Langhorne Creek Campus of the Eastern Fleurieu School, will captain the side that will don the brown and gold striped Hawks jumpers.

When Tasman’s Crows Nest Membership form was drawn, the shy Auskicker was thrust into the spotlight and instantly became the most popular student at the school.

The Langhorne Creek Hawks will be made up of Tasman and his two best mates in reception with year 4-6 students making up the remainder of the team which will contest 2 x ten minute halves.

A very nervous Tasman, who will line up in the midfield, said he was very excited at the prospect of taking on his heroes, in particular Ricciuto, Thompson and Goodwin.

“I am really excited but so very nervous,” the pacey Tasman said.

“But I am going to try my best and won’t hold back. If Scotty (Thompson) is running at me with the ball I won’t be afraid to tackle him.”

Langhorne Creek Campus Coordinator David Hankinson said the campus was buzzing with excitement at the prospect of Tasman Follett leading the team onto the field against the Crows.

“The students have worked hard over the pre-season and are ready to flex their muscles and show the likes of McLeod, Roo and Edwards all the skills they have learned at their local Auskick club,” David Hankinson said.

The Langhorne Creek Hawks will be coached by Tasman’s father Randall, owner of the Fairholme vineyard.

Tasman’s mum Lee and two younger sisters Airlee (4) and Mia (18 months) will lead the cheer squad.
