Adelaide coach Neil Craig believes Ben Hudson is “ready to play” if required at AFL level.

After watching Hudson join 14 other Crows at a non-compulsory training session on Wednesday, Craig revealed his confidence in the ruckman’s recovery from a knee reconstruction.

“He’s been discussed (at selection),” Craig said. “He’s played two and a half games after a full knee reconstruction. So the immediate response to that is, be careful. But I saw Ben play on the weekend and had a discussion with Ben today and he’s absolutely confident that his knee can’t get any better. There is not one movement he is not confident to do. So he would start to come into consideration from now on.”

Rhett Biglands and Ben Hart, who both missed the Fremantle game because of hamstring soreness, also trained yesterday in a bid to be recalled to take on the Western Bulldogs at the MCG on Saturday.

“Rhett trained as hard as he possibly could – and he had to – and all indications are that he should be okay,” Craig said. “But I said that last week, so you are a bit hesitant.

“From what Ben Hart did today, he’s making himself available.”

The Wednesday training group included players who had missed games and training sessions through injury – such as Nathan van Berlo, Nathan Bock, Trent Hentschel, Scott Welsh, Jason Torney and Ian Perrie.

Many other players have not been seen at the club since Monday afternoon’s recovery session and will not return until Friday morning when the team trains before heading to Melbourne.

“The intention is to freshen people up and hopefully we will see that on Saturday … just their movements and their sharpness,” said Craig, who watched parts of Wednesday’s training session from the coaches’ box.
