The Adelaide Crows trial match at Norwood Oval this Friday night will help 13 South Australian teenagers living with cancer realise their dream of going to the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne next month.

Proceeds from the match, along with the fundraising work of the Adelaide Crows Foundation, have ensured the teenagers will experience the excitement and motivational inspiration of an international sporting event.

As well as their accommodation and travel expenses, the funds have paid for some of the hottest "tickets in town" including athletics, hockey and cycling.

Senior Crows player Ben Hart said it was very rewarding to know that proceeds from the match, and the fundraising work of the Adelaide Crows Foundation, had allowed these young South Australians to attend the Commonwealth Games.

“As a father of two, its heart wrenching to see children suffering from life threatening illnesses and to know that the footy club has helped make one of their dreams come true, and put huge smiles on their faces, is tremendous,” Hart said.

“I hope they get to hear the national anthem and see our athletes on the top podium.”

Camp Quality, a non profit organisation that brings laughter, hope and happiness to the lives of 5,000 children living with cancer across Australia, approached the Adelaide Crows Foundation to help make the wishes of these senior campers come true.

Spokesperson for Camp Quality Julie Burford-Kitto said they were delighted and very appreciative that the Adelaide Crows Foundation so readily agreed to financially assist Camp Quality to send the teenagers to the Commonwealth Games.

“It’s the generosity of leading community and business groups such as the Adelaide Crows that helps Camp Quality to continue to deliver quality recreational and educational adventures for South Australian children living with Cancer,” Ms Burford-Kitto said.

A State under-18 side, comined with four or five young Crows players, will play Norwood reserves in the first match on Friday from 5pm.

Adelaide then plays Norwood at 7pm.
