Garry Eckermann of Paradise has won the AFC Wine Club March competition.
Mr Eckermann was presented his prize, a framed and signed Andrew McLeod Tribute Guernsey on Wednesday by Club representative Shane Farley.
“When Shane phoned me about the Wine Club, I thought he was going to tell me there was a problem, so it was a bit of a shock when he told me I had won the prize,” Mr Eckermann said.
To be in the draw to win the prize valued at $1,995, members were asked to join the new Wine Club and make a purchase in the month of March. Mr Eckermann just scraped in making his purchase on March 31 (the last day of the competition).
Mr Eckermann is thrilled to win such an appropriate prize as he shares his hometown of Darwin with the 340 game superstar. “McLeod is definitely my all-time favourite player…I just loved watching him play! He was spell binding on the football field,” he said.
“The prize is a wonderful memento, both of the Adelaide Football Club and especially of my favourite player. It is something I will always treasure!”
Garry is also a founding member of the Northern Territory Crows Supporters Group (NTCSG). Formed in 2002 with only 20 members, the group now has over 100 members and continues to meet for most Crows matches. He is now recommending the Wine Club to others involved in the supporter group as all purchases help the footy club.
