Adelaide ruckman Brad Moran has announced his retirement from AFL football.

Moran, 24, has played only four games over the past two years and has struggled to overcome knee and hip injuries.

Moran said today, “Unfortunately my body has suffered due to persistent injuries and I am not able to play and move like I used to.

“I have had an injury riddled few years and I have been pondering the decision to retire for a little while now. I have started up a new business, ‘NoQ’, which is an I-Phone application, and with something to move into after football it has made the decision easier.”

“The Adelaide Football Club has been great to me over the past four years and has looked after me through some tough times during my injuries.”

Crows football operations manager Phil Harper said: “Brad has had a frustrating time with injuries during his four years with us, which has brought to an end his career. We wish him all the best with the next stage of his life and with his new business.”

Moran has played 18 AFL games with Adelaide from 2008-2011 after being traded from North Melbourne, where he played three games, at the end of 2007.

Originally drafted by the Kangaroos from Gold Coast club Southport with pick No.58 at the 2004 national draft, Moran made his debut for Adelaide in 2008 against Port Adelaide, playing seven games that season.

Injury again kept him out of the side until round seven, 2009, and he played another seven games before hurting his knee against Sydney in round 13.

After missing the entire 2010 season, he returned to Adelaide’s side in round 11 this year, playing four games.
