Adelaide could host the grand final of the NAB Cup at AAMI Stadium if it wins Friday night's semi-final against Melbourne.

The grand final side with the highest number of goals during the first three rounds of the NAB Cup series will be awarded the final on Saturday, March 18.

Of the four semi-finalists, Fremantle has scored the most goals in the first two games (34) ahead of Adelaide (27), Geelong (26) and Melbourne (22).

With the Crows playing against Melbourne in Adelaide in Friday night's first semi-final, both Fremantle and Geelong will know by Saturday night just how many goals they will need to kick to host the final.

If Melbourne and Geelong win their semi-finals the grand final will automatically be played at Telstra Dome in Melbourne.

The AFL pre-season grand final has only ever been staged outside Victoria once - at AAMI Stadium in 2001. The past four grand finals have been staged at Telstra Dome.
